The streaking Memphis Grizzlies traveled to Chicago on Friday to take on former Tiger Derrick Rose and the rest of the Bulls.
Memphis, currently in eighth place in the West, could not overpower Chicago on the glass, as they were outrebounded 45-32, including 18-8 on the offensive side.
No player for the Grizzlies stuck out on the box score, as center Marc Gasol perhaps had the best statistics for the young squad. He finished the game with a double-double, posting 14 points and 11 rebounds. He also had 3 blocks.
Zach Randolph, now the leader of the Grizzlies, could not get it going as he scored 16 points, but grabbed only 5 rebounds.
However, he did have some nice words for Bulls star Derrick Rose after the game.
"MVP, he's my MVP," Randolph said.
Rose finished the game with 24 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds. Hearing chants of "MVP!" throughout the game, Rose made two free throws with 2:18 left in the game to give the Bulls the lead.
He would then proceed to drive past Tony Allen to hit a shot with 10.8 seconds left to give them a bigger lead. He would make the following free throw.
Luol Deng added 23 points and Carlos Boozer narrowly missed out on a double-double, posting 12 points and 9 rebounds.
With the 99-96 win, the Bulls extended their home winning streak to 14 games and now hold a two game advantage over the Boston Celtics for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
