Favorite Of The Week: Appalachian State Vs. Michigan

 By: Tyler Ward

This is a favorite at the site, simply because it is such an upset - it was virtually unbelievable when it happened.

In case you didn't know, Appalachian State upset Michigan at "The Big House", 34-32. Michigan, the winningest team in college football history, faced two-time defending Division I-AA champion, Appalachian State. Most analysts and experts predicted that it would not even be a game because Michigan was so highly-favored. But, the Mountaineers stunned the Wolverines at their own house.

Quarterback Armanti Edwards was one of the key players in the game, throwing for 227 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown and compiled 62 rushing yards. With 6 seconds left in the game, with Michigan down 34-32, the Wolverines attempted a very-makeable field goal to win the game. Appalachian State's safety Corey Lynch didn't think Michigan was going to win the contest, though - when the ball was snapped, Lynch snuck around the defensive line, blocked the field goal, and plucked it off the ground to seal the deal. The crowd was stupidly stunned and some people were even shedding tears.

It was truly one of the biggest upsets in college football history. It is the only instance where a Division I-AA team beat an NCAA team. This could very well pave the way for future games to turn out the way that upset did.

So, with that being said, here's a video of the game:
