By: Stephen Patterson

Serena Williams will be undergoing surgery on her right foot after an apparent injury from a broken glass in a restaurant. The exact details of the injury or the extent isn't currently known. The top-ranked women's tennis player suffered the injury last week, and according to the WTA, Williams will miss the next three tournaments heading into the U.S. Open.

Williams will miss events in Istanbul, Cincinnati, and Montreal following the surgery. The tournament in Montreal, scheduled for August 16, is only two weeks before the U.S. Open. She won her 13th major title and fourth Wimbleton crown on July 3. Williams has not said much about the injury, but did say she was "upset" that she would have to miss the upcoming tournaments.
