Lesnar's Reign Continues At UFC 116

By: Stephen Patterson

After an almost year long break from the octagon, Brock Lesnar returned to defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Shane Carwin tonight at UFC 116 in Las Vegas. In his first fight since returning from a stomach ailment that was at one time deemed life-threatening, Lesnar defeated Carwin via submission with an arm-triangle choke in the second round of their title bout.

This was the first fight of Carwin's career to last longer than one round and also the first time he has tasted defeat (previously 12-0). Entering the fight, it was widely viewed as one of the sport's best heavyweight fights in years. The fight ended 2 minutes and 19 seconds into the second round. Carwin entered the fight as the UFC interim heavyweight champion after previously defeating Frank Mir during Lesnar's absence from competing.
