Jordan Speaks On LeBron's Decision

By: Stephen Patterson

While almost everyone in the country has shared their opinion on LeBron's choice to join the Miami Heat, Michael Jordan took his time letting his thoughts be known. It's safe to say that the six-time NBA champion didn't agree with the decision. When asked about LeBron's move, Jordan said "there's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team'".

Jordan also said "but that's ... things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys". Former star Charles Barkley also had some harsh words for James, saying "he'll never be Jordan". I think that's one of the most overlooked things in all of this mess: Maybe LeBron doesn't want to be like Mike.

Michael Jordan had one the best coaches of all-time (Phil Jackson) and two amazing teammates in Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. It's safe to say that being coached by Mike Brown, with Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison as your top teammates, is just a little bit of a downgrade. LeBron made the right decision to win basketball games by joining the Heat. That's what he said he wanted all along about this summer's free agency. He never said "My goal in free agency is to be like Michael Jordan".
