South Carolina Suspends Stephen Garcia Indefinitely

By: Stephen Patterson

South Carolina's starting quarterback Stephen Garcia has been suspended indefinitely from team activities, according to ESPN.

Garcia is the leader among returning SEC quarterbacks in passing yards.

With Marcus Lattimore and Alshon Jeffrey, the Gamecocks looked to have a pretty dangerous offense set up for this season.

Head coach Steve Spurrier says Garcia will not be with the team through the spring semester at the least, and that he could potentially lose his starting spot at quarterback.

This is the fifth suspension for Garcia, who was an extremely highly touted player coming out of high school.

It is his second suspension of the spring.

According to some reports, the suspension stems from Garcia showing up to a team function acting belligerently and having to scent of alcohol on his breath.

Considering Garcia promised to stay out of trouble following his last suspension, this could very well be the last straw for the quarterback with the Gamecocks.

If Garcia is not back with the team in the fall, how do you think South Carolina will fare in the SEC this season?
